Alpaca's natural tones require no chemical processes or dye to treat them, which helps us to preserve the integrity of our soil and waterways.

Each season we product a single hand-knitted piece as a mark of our admiration of this rare skill and our commitment to preserving it. This winter, we have chosen to work with an alpaca yarn to create a beautifully soft and cosy winter jumper.
Alpaca offers the warmth of wool but feels lighter and softer on the skin. The alpaca fibres we work with are harvested delicately and carefully, by gently brushing the first layer of soft hair from the baby animals. The silky fibres are naturally water-resistant and hypoallergenic yet they enable us to create knitwear that is extremely hard-wearing.

The use of these natural fibres also echoes our commitment to the natural world. Alpaca are inherently kind to farmland, while their subtle, naturally-occurring shades require no chemical processes or dye to treat them, which helps us to preserve the integrity of our soil and waterways.

Each jumper takes around a week to be completed by a single knitter, the time and development a reflection of the care and expert skills required to produce it. The pieces are lovingly imbued with unique characters, reminding their wearer of the exquisite skill in this craft that we are in danger of losing if we don’t strive to protect it. A hand-knit makes a very special gift for a loved one.
