LED BY NATURE

Our founder, Carole Bamford, has been a champion of sustainable, mindful living for over 40 years. Her journey began much earlier, inspired by a walk through her garden with her newly born daughter. She noticed the roses wilting under the effects of pesticides, and this, combined with health concerns, sparked a profound commitment to creating an environment free from chemicals and harm.

Bamford was born from her belief that just as we must care for what we put in our bodies, we should be equally thoughtful about what we put on them — choosing clean, natural alternatives that nurture our wellbeing.

Rooted in a deep respect for the natural world, we design our processes to work in harmony with nature, reducing waste, reimagining materials, and embracing circularity through thoughtful innovation. From regenerative sourcing to giving new life to by-products, we’re always evolving in hope to protect the ecosystems that sustain us.

This commitment is reflected in our accreditations: we are proud to be a certified B Corp, as well as recognised by Positive Luxury, the Soil Association, and COSMOS Organic & Natural.

"Bamford was born out of a belief that what we put on our body should be as nourishing and nurturing as what we put inside it through our food. Our products are beautifully considered, rich in meaning and quality, with a story we can be proud of."

Our promise of natural integrity

Preferred Materials means choosing natural fibres, authentic ingredients, and responsible packaging as our foundation. We prioritise transparency and traceability, seeking certifications where possible, with a clear preference for organic and sustainable sources.

Our last three apparel collections mark a milestone: 100% natural fibres across all pieces, made from just six materials, simplifying choices without compromising quality. The use of predominantly natural fibres ensures garments of lasting quality — made to be worn, loved, and eventually returned to the earth. Unlike synthetics, which linger and harm the soil, natural fibres biodegrade, releasing carbon and nutrients that support new life.

Enduring Design drives us to create products built to last. Our small, carefully curated garment collections are designed to be loved for years and passed down, while our home and body care lines focus on reuse, refill, and longevity, minimising waste and maximising value.

Our product development approach

In 2021, we launched the Homegrown Merino Project, the first of its kind to keep every stage of merino garment production within the UK. By remaining local, we reduced transport emissions by 96%, cutting the journey from 18,000 miles to just 639. Choosing undyed wool saved over 12,000 litres of water.

A year later, we turned to the future of skincare with Bamford’s Stem Cell Serum, a first in plant-based biotechnology, winning product Innovation of the Year award for this product in 2023.

“Bamford’s Stem Cell Serum was the first of their products to harness the power of biotechnology. Using an innovative process to extract stem cells from small plant materials in a laboratory, these cells are synthesised to produce high-quality active ingredients on a large scale, helping to preserve nature and reduce their use of environmental resources”

Positive Luxury Awards

This year, we launched the Glasshouse Collection to celebrate 20 years of our founding fragrance, Geranium. Each candle is made locally using 100% natural wax from a gentle blend of soya, rapeseed, and beeswax. The pure cotton wicks are free from toxins such as parabens and phthalates to ensure a clean burn.

We believe nothing should be created without meaning or discarded without thought. Every detail in this collection has been carefully considered, ensuring each piece has a purpose beyond its first use. The candles are paired with matching ceramic lids that also serve as incense holders. Handcrafted from locally sourced, unfired waste clay, the vessels can be reused or repurposed in beautiful, lasting ways. Pot your favourite plant, grow a small herb garden, or arrange seasonal stems for an elegant addition to a tablescape.

Circularity initiatives

Inspired by the desire to repurpose coffee grounds salvaged from Daylesford's cafés, our B Vibrant Tonifying Body Polish, launched in 2024, is crafted from a natural blend of sugar and upcycled coffee grounds. Every year, 4,000KG of used coffee grounds are retrieved from our cafés. Although these are not wasted - as they are used to make compost – we wanted to create a new and innovative value for one of the largest waste streams from Daylesford sites. Known to be highly beneficial for skincare, coffee holds natural exfoliating properties and a rich antioxidant content, sparking the idea for our skin buffing polish.

Minimising packaging waste

Within our packaging strategy, we pursue two clear goals: to reduce packaging waste wherever possible, especially plastics, and to ensure that every item reaching our UK customers is 100% recyclable.

Through careful annual reviews and thoughtful innovation, we’ve already removed all secondary on-shelf packaging from our skincare range. Our plastics contain 50% recycled content, giving new life to materials that might otherwise be lost. This year, we launched our refill pouch for bestselling Geranium Hand & Body Wash. Fully recyclable and designed to reduce single-use plastic, the pouch helps save 70% CO₂, 65% energy, and 45% water compared to buying a new bottle. By refilling your 250ml bottle twice with our 500ml pouch, you’ll prevent 53g of plastic waste.
