Cashmere should be handwashed, never drycleaned as the chemicals in the drycleaning process burn the delicate fibres and colour them yellow. Cashmere garments should be turned inside out and hand washed slowly, using an ecologically-friendly mild laundry liquid, by being squeezed – not wrung – then rinsed in cold water.
Ideally items should be placed on top of a towel and laid out flat. Putting them on top of a towel on a radiator will steam the water and remove it slowly.
Cashmere does bobble; it’s a natural fibre so it wears a little but you can easily remove the pilling. We don’t recommend a cashmere comb as they’re aggressive and often destroy the yarn. Men’s electric razors with guards are good options for removing the pilling; passed over the yarn very gently in circular movements.
