‘This collection is a timeless combination of texture, form and tone, inspired by the desire to design clothes that transcend the notion of being bound to a season. These pieces celebrate the generosity of nature’s resources but are above all a reflection of our deep respect for them.
What we wear can be an expression of our values as much as our style and I want women to continue to feel confident in their choice to wear Bamford knowing that the journey their garment has taken, from the environmental impact of the fibres, dyes and the water we use, right through to our social responsibility, has been scrutinised at every step of the way.’
IRISH WOVEN TWEED
Our beautifully-soft Irish tweed is produced in Donegal, and stays to true to time-honoured production methods: washed in the peaty waters of the river Eske and then finished in the mills. Our single-breasted Glacier Coat and wrap-over Glacier Jacket in midnight bring modernity to the traditional fabric.
Our Chunky Moss is knitted in one of the few remaining knitwear factories in Scotland using the latest in whole-garment knitting technology. The blend of lambswool and cashmere is knitted to shape, which creates no unnecessary waste. For over 10 years we have supported some of the last remaining knitwear factories in Scotland and are proud to be helping to keep this craft alive.
The environmental impact of producing denim from wool is far lower than the standard cotton, requiring less water and far fewer pesticides. Our wool denim is naturally biodegradable. It becomes softer with wash and wear, while the breathable fibres also provide warmth in winter. Our Rufus Jacket is a stylish way to keep out the cold, while our Cargo Culottes are an easy-to-wear option as the seasons begin to shift.
ALPACA HAND KNIT
Hand-knitted in Scotland, our alpaca fibres are harvested delicately and carefully, by gently brushing the first layer of soft hair from the baby animals. The fibres are so soft and smooth, it can take up to a week to produce a single jumper, ensuring the precious uniqueness of every piece.
Chemicals used in textile production are one of the world’s largest polluters of water. All of the yarns in our collection come exclusively from spinners that have reduced hazardous chemicals from their spinning process.
