Carole Bamford Late Summer Edit

Reflections on the season

'Picnics, trips to the seaside, and spending my time in my garden are just some of the quintessentially English ways I’ve been embracing the summer at home, and away. With the sunny weather set to linger a few more weeks, the Bamford team asked me to put together a list of my late summer essentials to help make the most of the warm days for as long as they continue.'

Transitional layering

Keep a lightweight knit to hand during these transitional weeks. As summer comes to a close, making way for early autumn, natural fibres will keep you comfortable on warmer and cooler days - perfect for layering over flowing organic cotton dresses.

Carry the sun with you

'The Bamford SPF 50 sunscreen is a new staple of my morning routine and fits perfectly in a small pouch. SPF is something I've been careful to wear on my face for a long time - even on cloudy days, it is one of the kindest things we can do for our skin to protect against UVA and UVB rays.'

The Beaded Bracelets are made in India using crystals selected for their healing properties, featuring a small leaf charm in 18ct gold. A joyful accessory to make you smile.

Late summer picnics

'Eating outdoors is something I will try and do as often as I can. There's something about having a meal outside that makes it feel even more special.'

Bring the indoors out

Soft textiles make a cosy setting for a late summer picnic. Cushions in materials like hemp are hardwearing and suited to the outdoors, while a soft quilt can be used to shield from an early autumn breeze.

What is your favourite seaside memory?

'Going cockling on the beach at Canford Cliffs as a child. I did a trip along the south coastline last summer and I loved it just as much as I did in my childhood.'

'When the sun does shine there is nothing quite like a clear late summer’s day, with its bright blue skies.'

Carole Bamford's Autumn Edit

As the days shorten and the nights draw further in, we asked our founder Carole Bamford to share some of the things she is turning to at the moment – to protect her skin, calm the mind and nourish the body as we start to settle into the stillness of winter.
