A mala is a string of beads used in a meditation practice or to keep count in prayer. Mala were first created in India and were used for a special style of meditation called japa, which means, ‘to recite’: each bead represents one recitation of a mantra. They have been used for thousands of years to help keep minds focused on the meaning or sound of a mantra rather than distracting them with counting. Our conch shell beads are made in the traditional style and come from Nagaland in India. Length: 70cm
