Bamford’s evolution has always been shaped by a profound sense of place. The wild beauty of England’s verdant landscapes, its traditions and heritage have guided our story, but it is our beginnings in the Cotswolds, at Daylesford Farm, near the village of Kingham, that gave life and inspiration to our brand. The rolling fields, organic farmland vast landscapes in this breathtaking corner of the country have informed our philosophy. Just as the farm’s soil is nurtured with care, we share a commitment to respect the planet’s resources, creating with integrity, intention and responsibility. 

The Cotswold farm is where our founder, Carole Bamford, began her journey more than forty years ago. After converting the farmland to become organic, Carole began to reflect on the wider choices she was making in her life.  If food should be grown without chemicals to nourish and protect the body, she wanted to follow those same principles through the products she chose to put on her skin, feeding it in the same way.

From this belief, Bamford’s first collections of natural skincare and body products were born: formulations that respect the skin’s integrity, harnessing botanicals to nurture and work with its natural composition and fluctuations. Many of the ingredients drawn on – roses, lavender, rosemary, strawberry seeds – are inspired by ingredients and plants grown on Daylesford’s farm. Their healing and nourishing properties work in synergy with the body, restoring balance and wellbeing. Carole’s lifelong love of geraniums is also at the heart of Bamford’s uplifting signature fragrance, a timeless reminder of the glasshouse in her garden, in which she grows over 120 varieties of the delicate scented-leafed plant.

Our timeless clothing collections are made from natural fibres – linen, wool, cotton and cashmere – chosen for their beauty, longevity and gentle impact on the planet.
