Words from our founder on the death of Her Majesty The Queen
9th September 2022
The world has lost a guiding light. As we all reflect on a remarkable life and mourn Her Majesty the Queen I wanted to pay tribute to the most inspiring and generous of women, who gave us all so much and expected so little in return. She was a woman with grace, humility, kindness and wisdom. A mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and like me, an animal-lover who adored her horses and dogs. She was a leader we looked to for guidance and reassurance and she was a steadfast, calm and comforting presence during troublesome times. An admired and respected ambassador for our country with the deepest love for the nations she served. Her joyful spirit and smile would light up a room and bring brightness to the darkest of hours.
Many of us have never known a world without her. She’s been part of the fabric of our lives and we feel inextricably connected to her. Her voice has come into our living rooms every Christmas and we have celebrated her family’s milestones with her, sharing in her joys and applauding her successes. Hers was truly a life well lived.
We thank her for seventy years of unwavering devotion to her country and beyond. We are so fortunate to have lived under her reign and will forever hold her in our hearts.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family at this most difficult time. May they find comfort and solace in the love and affection so many of us shared for her. May she rest in peace.
An update on our opening hours and Harvest Festival will follow once we have had time to adjust to this saddest of news.
