BAMFORD LIFE
GUIDED BY OUR GURUS
2023
Here at Bamford, we have perfected the art of living consciously, looking after ourselves and others, and respecting the land that provides for us.
As part of our new monthly series, we look to our practitioners, brand ambassadors and committee members of The Club to guide us through the year with practices and products that bring us closer to ourselves.
JANUARY
For January, Jasmine St Cliere leads the way, Studio Manager of our Lavender Studio located at the Bamford Wellness Spa, Brompton Cross.
WELLNESS IN HARMONY WITH THE SEASONS
“The New Year invites us to become clear on our intentions and where we would like to direct our energy this year, so we are ready to put them into action come spring. I therefore find it serves me to connect to my truest, wisest self through breathwork and sound baths.”
For these classes, Jasmine suggests wrapping up warm and applying nourishing products to the body such as our Nourishing Sleep Mask, Rose Nurture Balm and Geranium Hand Balm.
“The New Year can also evoke a lot of pressure to suddenly be on ‘full power’ and launch into action, yet we are still in the midst of winter, our period for hibernation and rest. I see so much value in spending the darker evenings in a few, longer-held yin yoga postures. Yin is a practice that, much like winter, celebrates stillness, helping to remove stubborn tension in the joints.”
You can join Jasmine for yin yoga, soothing sound baths and breathwork classes in our skylit London studio and explore more restorative classes at our studios in London and the Cotswolds.
CHANNELLING UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
“The month of love is the perfect time to reflect on how much love you’re giving to yourself and others. To channel and enhance the feeling of unconditional love, I use rose quartz – a crystal known for its connection to the heart chakra and ability to attract love.”
“When it comes to incorporating rose quartz into your routine, a simple skincare ritual with gua sha can provide the dose of self-care you need. And if there’s someone in your life who’s particularly in need of some love, gifting them a small heart-shaped crystal could mean the world.”
You can book a one-to-one session with Ruth at our Bamford Wellness Spa in the Cotswolds. Each session is entirely bespoke and includes a 14-day at-home follow-up programme.
SPRING AWAKENING
“The arrival of spring is such an uplifting time of year with longer days, and the promise of warmth and sunshine. The sun is starting to rise when I do – something I like to follow with a little gentle movement such as Pilates or yoga. These natural cork mats are perfect for my practice.”
“It is wonderful to be able to spend more time in my garden, which has come alive with the fragrance of daphne and lots of bright, jewel-like crocuses and irises. Our new Bubble Jacket is an elegant lightweight option for these milder days, made in the UK using a blend of organic cotton and linen.”
“As spring is a time for renewal in nature, it feels natural to mirror this in the way we take care of ourselves. Bamford’s Detox and Glow treatment uses ancient techniques to help you feel rejuvenated in mind, body and spirit, from back-brushing and abdominal massage to a radiance-boosting resurfacing facial.”
“Eating in tune with the seasons is fundamental to my sense of well-being, so I am looking forward to sharing a host of new nourishing recipes in Seed, the bi-annual magazine I edit. Our fifth volume will be published later this month.”

APRIL
For April, we turn to Andy Walters – Head of Fitness at The Club – for guidance on incorporating fitness into your lifestyle.
A WAY OF LIFE
“When a person embarks on their fitness journey, they often feel a surge of motivation at the start which gradually dwindles as time goes on. The key to avoiding this is making choices and habits which can be sustained for a long period of time. Upping your number of workouts per week from zero to ten is unlikely to be sustainable past the first week or two.”
“Finding the type of fitness that suits you is also essential. At The Club, we have a host of members-only classes ranging from outdoor team-based workouts to high-intensity boxing classes. Across the orchard at the spa, we have a set of lower-impact classes such as reformer Pilates and yoga.”
“Consistency is key – if you love what you’re doing, you’ll be more likely to stick with it.”

MAY
For May, our Director of Business Development Louise Riby shares why balance is the key to mastering the art of wellness.
“Wellness is often perceived as a concept that involves eating healthily 24/7, practising yoga daily and drinking cold-pressed juices but, in reality, incorporating time for fun with your loved ones is just as important.”
“When hosting my family and friends I fill the house with flowers to inject some vibrancy into the space, so some neutral vases never go amiss. I also purchased a Coronation Vest recently because it feels very celebratory and fun. It’s a nice talking point too!”
CREATING LASTING MEMORIES
“Our sense of smell has a magical ability to transport us back in time and recall our most distant memories. With this in mind, I scent my home with my favourite fragrance – at the moment it’s Lily of the Valley. So, when my loved ones smell Lily of the Valley, they’ll be reminded of all the fun we had.”

JUNE
As the weather begins to warm up, our Head Womenswear Designer Emily Robson details her three top tips for styling your summer wardrobe.
NATURAL FIBRES
“Natural fabrics like cotton and linen are great for keeping you cool throughout the summer months. They’re breathable, lightweight and look effortless however you style them. My favourite piece from SS23 is the Sandira Bib Shirt. I’d wear it every day if I could.”
“If you’ve got a special event to attend like Wimbledon or the Chelsea Flower Show, I’d pick the Cascade Dress because it’s so fun and feminine. It’s easy to throw on but looks really elegant – a quick win if you’re looking for a more elevated look.”
LAYERING
“When you live in the UK, you have to be prepared to adapt to the ever-changing weather. Incorporating a wrap into your look will shelter you from the sun and keep you warm during cooler evenings.”
“If you want something really cosy and soft choose our hand-painted Splash Wrap, and if you’re seeking something lighter, I’d go for our Aqua Painted Wrap which is made from linen.”
ARTISANAL PIECES
“Above all, summer is a really fun time; the sun is shining, people are more carefree, and everything feels a bit more relaxed. I think it’s nice to carry this energy through to your wardrobe. Picking really special, artisanal pieces is a nice way to do this.”
“My choice would be the Marigold Reversible Coat every time. The detail is incredible, and it tells a really beautiful story.”

JULY
For July, our Spa Trainer Agata Wojcik shares her top tips for seamless summer skincare.
“My role involves spending time with our retail, hotel and spa partners all over the world, so I’m well used to adjusting to new time zones and environments. Your usual body and skincare rituals can go out of the window while travelling, so I stick to these two non-negotiables to keep me on course.”
HYDRATING HEROES
"I take extra care to protect my skin from dehydration when I’m on long haul flights. I use our Nourishing Sleep Mask to shield my skin while on the plane. It’s rich in hyaluronic acid which keeps the skin plumped and fresh, while red microalgae aids long-term firming.”
“Upon arrival at my destination, I always exfoliate to ensure my skin is clean and feels refreshed. For this I use our Refining Exfoliator with volcanic sand particles refines the skin gently yet very effectively. And overnight, I nourish my skin with our Rejuvenating Drops which are rich in healing rosehip oil. My skin feels silky soft and rested the next day.”
ENHANCING ESSENTIALS
“I always take beauty tools with me when I travel. Body brushing is a really energising practice, which can ease jet lag symptoms, so a skin brush for the body is my go-to. And, for my face, I pack a gua sha to enhance my facial massage ritual and reduce any puffiness caused by the change in environment.”
“Not only does this encourage me to schedule in some time for my skin – especially when my regular routine is out of kilter – but it ensures I spend at least 15 minutes a day dedicated to myself, without my phone or laptop in hand.”
AUGUST
The The B Silent Bath Concentrate It’s truly wonderful for a bedtime bath and makes for a deep and wonderful sleep. I love a bath. And a good smell. This really is a good combo of lavender, camomile and vetiver.
